V is for Verisimilitude

So many people and things seem to have verisimilitude that we accept them. Yet we don't do what Paul said we should do. "Listen to what I say, but verify." So many people sit in churches and accept what they are taught, but don't go to The Word themselves and find out if what is being taught is in context. I've seen so many scripture verses used to justify hating of one group of people, when if you look at the context of where they are found it basically says that we are all guilty in the eyes of God, but Thanks be to God, we have Jesus.

Paul lays out the argument in Romans chapters 1-3 that "... all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..."

But he also concludes, "Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law."

No one can boast.

Be blessed. Be a blessing.

Verisimilitude "something, as an assertion, having merely the appearance of truth."

Using Bible verses out of context is an oft used technique. I always like to go to see what else is said with the verse. People can use the Bible to defend just about any position by just using verses out of context.
